American Minute with Bill Federer
November 15
A member of the Continental Congress, he was the only clergyman
to sign the Declaration of Independence, and he lost two sons in
the Revolutionary War.
He was President of Princeton and taught nine of the men that
wrote the Constitution, including James Madison.
He served on over one hundred and twenty Congressional
Committees.
His name was Reverend John Witherspoon, and he died this day,
November 15, 1794.
Rev. Witherspoon wrote:
"A Republic must either preserve its virtue or lose its
liberty...
Whoever is an avowed enemy of God, I scruple not to call him an
enemy of his country."
