BATTLE- KNIGHT!

 

A sudden light shocked his senses

    The gleaming sword aimed at his head

           His raised shield and rod- trained reflexes

                 The Knight quickly reacted or he'd be dead

 

Gleaming sword met gleaming sword in the darkened light

       A warrior devoted to the Dragon clan

                       Attacked the King's loyal Knight

                              The warrior- a powerful enraged man

 

After the Knight had prayed for the village below

         He had started up the old road into the hills

                     The dark ferocious storm-winds had started to blow

                             With a hideous sound that gave the Knight ominous chills

 

The dragon warrior had been hiding behind a large tree

        Waiting to ambush the Knight in service to the King

                   He brought down his sword with a demonic glee

                         Hoping the death of the Knight the battle would bring

 

"Never give up when fighting swords clatter

            When enemies attack and souls do rumble

                   Fight on! - make a brave end of the matter"

 

He remembered the Golden Knight's advice

           As the dragon warrior started to stumble

                            On the frozen snow and bloody ice

 

As the thunder storm roared through the trees

     The Knight and the warrior fought on

            The dragon warrior's blows brought  the Knight to his knees

                   And as he bowed down he raised his trusted weapon

 

"Must never give up, though life be a battle

          When some men fail, I must be strong

Resist fear, even though my soul may rattle

          Don't give in, though the conflict be long"

 

The Knight prayed these words as the fight raged on

             Thunder and lightening tore the dark skies apart

The King's Spirit spoke - "Be Strong My son!"

             As the Knight drove his sword into the warrior's heart

 

The chilled wind became still

       The Knight now alone on the hill side

              He obeyed the King's will

                   And moved on with a brave stride

 

No one knew the Knight's hidden pain

       Nor could they see the tears in his eyes

As he fought the foes again and again

      Underneath the King's glorious skies

 

The King would return on that Wonderful Day

       But until then both day and night

              There could be for the servant - no other way

                         Than to press on and BATTLE- KNIGHT!
