I'm
pretty optimistic - job growth has been great - things are a
little slow -I'm going to make some money doing speaking tours
when I'm out of office - who said gas is $4.00 a gallon?
Have
you ever had the feeling, that you're trapped in a sequel to
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest? With millions out of
work - millions of homes in foreclosure, people living in
tent cities, dying due to lack of medical care, - President
Bush is having a grand ole time dancing on the side porch of
the White House (waiting for McCain). No - he had no idea
what the price of gas was - food costs, home heating oil,
etc. Fact is -- GWB
has never had to worry over school, employment, housing,
food costs, medical care etc. Those mundane matters are for
the drones and worker bees. The only time he, or any
other politician gives a damn about the common man, is
during election theater, when everyone pretends that
we have a choice as to the next White House resident . The
few other times are, when politicians dress in their
slumming clothes and visit disaster zones; promising
housing, schools, etc. These are called photo ops and are
meaningless as the people have learned. Ask GWB how
fast (with all kinds of improvements)
Kennebunkport was repaired (by taxpayers) when
his father was President (slight wind damage). They
are even exempt from disaster --------! No insurance
arguments here.
GWB
uses Air Force One like a shuttle plane - It uses
hundreds of thousands of gallons of gas, shuffling off to
Crawford - Kennebunkport - or to some fund raiser. Gas ?
Who cares - we're paying for it. With five years of
war - GWB is congratulating himself on Victory. The
'surge' is being announced as a success - mostly
because the real news of Iraq is not reported. Here
we are spending 12 billion a month ( a trillion and no end
in sight) - a million Iraqi citizens dead - 5 million
dislocated - 40,000 imprisoned - electric a few hrs a day
- infrastructure in ruins - no potable water - gas having
to be imported from Kuwait (it cost 5 cents a gallon under
Saddam) - 4000 dead American soldiers, 60,000 injured
(many with horrific head wounds) and this is victory.
This place the size of California (once with a population
of only 25 million/ half of them youngsters) according to
GWB and his buddy McCain worth staying in until hell
freezes over. When Cheney was told the other day
that the American people do not support this long term
(all borrowed money) expense of forever war, he said,
"So?" This is the arrogance of
indifference/ and perverse unconscionable power.
GWB
has said a lot of off the wall things, but March
14, 2008, remarks take the cake. He stated that if he
were younger and not employed at the White House - he
thinks fighting on the front lines would be a fantastic
experience --He went on to suggest in this video
conference with soldiers in Afghanistan, that he thought
fighting on the front lines was romantic and that he was
a little envious! He did have the chance to experience
the romance of fighting on the front lines when he
wasn't in the White House - only thing is he
disappeared? We do know he didn't go to Vietnam when he
was younger - nor does it appear, that he's done
much to influence his numerous family members, who
are old enough to fight their Uncle's war. Believe it or
not (putting aside the insane remark of war being
romantic) Sgt Ty (above) - missing an arm - the
fingers on this other arm - and blind in one eye had to
fight for full beneifts. GWB and his cohorts in Congress
don't have to fight for their taxpayer funded (yearly
cost of living increases) pensions. Meantime Arlen
Specter wrote a book - "Don't Give up". This
is to encourage all those fighting cancer. Only thing is
- Arlen pays a total of only $200 a month for tax
payer subsidized medical coverage for his family
(prescriptions etc) and has access to the best of
hospitals/surgeons - treatment. It takes MONEY to
hold on to hope - something Arlene and the gang haven't
a clue about. JM
