2nd Vice President 2006/2007

SOUTHERN BAPTIST CONVENTION

I do not know Dave Black, but I do believe what Charles Finney said is as much for today as when Finney said it.

I am joining the Black Regiment and encourage all men of God to consider doing the same. No fees, no committment but to God through our Lord Jesus and the Shepherdship of The Holy Ghost.

I have taken the opportunity to create an E-Mail account and it is as follows...

Pastors, Join the Black Regiment!

 David Alan Black

If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discernment, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in Christianity, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it.  ~ Rev. Charles Finney

Why does it seem that Americans are the only people on earth who are blind to the truth and ignorant of their history? Wherever you look, we can see the vision of freedom that once deluged our shores being swept away. We have to wonder how much longer our American Republic can survive.

Our government has become a great candy machine spewing out an endless stream of treats to lucky people, and we have to pay the bill for it! I’m talking about trillions of our hard-earned wages every single year, and the government’s appetite just keeps growing and growing, getting bigger and bigger and bigger.

What we need in this nation of ours is a political revolution, just like the one we had in 1776. Above all, I believe we need pastors and other Christian leaders who are willing to stand up to our current batch of spoiled secular bureaucrats, pastors who read and understand such great patriots as Noah Webster, who in his History of the United States wrote:

Almost all the civil liberty now enjoyed in the world owes its origin to the principles of the Christian religion…. The religion which has introduced civil liberty is the religion of Christ and His apostles, which enjoins humility, piety, and benevolence; which acknowledges in every person a brother or sister and a citizen with equal rights. This is genuine Christianity, and to this we owe our free constitution of government.

We need pastors who reject the lie that our national ideals stem from the influence of the French Enlightenment rather than from the Bible and Christianity, pastors who, with John Wingate Thornton, understand that “To the Pulpit, the Puritan Pulpit, we owe the moral force which won our independence.” We need pastors who realize that our independence today stems from one thing and one thing only: from the biblical concept that all men are created in the image of God, and because of this all men are entitled to equal treatment and unalienable rights.

In short, we need pastors who are willing to join today’s “Black Regiment.” The Black Regiment was a group of clergy who were fierce opponents of British tyranny and a driving force in the decision of the colonies to seek independence. Photograph of the statueKing George had provoked many of these men to leave England by demanding that they submit to licensing by the crown. He called them the Black Regiment because of the black robes they wore when preaching.

These men of God staunchly opposed the divine right of kings. Their cry was, “Restore the crown rights of King Jesus!” Many of them wrote impassioned pleas for freedom, and some even joined the Continental Army. When George Washington asked Lutheran pastor John Muhlenberg to raise a regiment of volunteers, Muhlenberg gladly agreed. Before marching off to join Washington’s army, he delivered a powerful sermon from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 that concluded with these words:

The Bible tells us there is a time for all things and there is a time to preach and a time to pray but the time for me to preach has passed away, and there is a time to fight, and that time has come now. Now is the time to fight! Call for recruits! Sound the drums!

Then Muhlenberg took off his clerical robe to reveal the uniform of a Virginia Colonel. Grabbing his musket from behind the pulpit, he donned his Colonel’s hat and marched off to war.

Pastor friend, will you join this patriotic host? Are you willing to say, “I will fight for the truth. I will be beholden to no one (whether a Democrat, Republican, or Other) except Jesus. I will stand up to the despots who are seeking to enslave us all by sending our children to their deaths as they build their New World Order and as they tax us into poverty. I will seek to bind our politicians with the chains of the Constitution. And I will do this for the glory of God and the advancement of Christian liberty.” Yes, the dues are high (radical obedience), but your treasure in heaven will more than amply repay.

May God give you the courage to join today!

Help Me Locate The Black Regiment
by Chuck Baldwin
July 24, 2007

Faithful readers of this column know of my burden for the pastors of America. Without informed, energized, and engaged pulpits, I see little hope for the maintenance of liberty and independence in this land.

When the colonies broke free from the shackles of the Crown, it was the moral and spiritual strength of colonial pulpits that helped lead the way. These revolutionary preachers became known as The Black Regiment, due to the long, black robes they were known to wear in the pulpit.

The Black Regiment taught their congregations the principles of freedom Sunday by Sunday. They expounded, explained, and extrapolated the Biblical principles of authority and jurisdiction carefully and meticulously. As a result, the men of colonial America were so well informed, both spiritually and politically, that when the time came to declare their independence, they had both the heart and mind to do it. Statesmen took up the pen, and soldiers took up arms in the greatest fight for freedom in world history. And leading both statesman and soldier was the Black Regiment.

If there is one question that I receive more than any other, it is, "Chuck, do you know a pastor like you in such and such a city?" I receive those letters and emails constantly. It is a heavy burden. I know they are out there, but where?

I must admit that I often fall victim to the same "woe is me" syndrome as did Elijah. I find myself crying, "I, even I only, am left." However, as God had 7,000 prophets in Israel that had not bowed the knee to Baal, so, too, God has a remnant-host of Black Regiment preachers in America today. The problem is, they are scattered hither and yon with little notice or recognition.

Therefore, I use this column today to enlist the help of my readers. Will you help me locate the Black Regiment? If you know of any Bible-believing, Gospel-preaching pastor who would qualify as being a Black Regiment preacher, would you please let me know who they are?

Before sending me your list of names, let's set some ground rules. In order to qualify as a Black Regiment pastor, the following criteria must be met:

1. He is a Bible believer: he believes the Bible is God's holy and authoritative Word.

2. He is the head of his own home, having his wife and children in subjection to his authority. No henpecked men here.

3. He is the spiritual leader and shepherd of his local congregation, not a committee-controlled man.

4. He is a strong proponent of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and Bill of Rights.

5. He understands the necessity and integrity of sovereign national borders. And, to the degree that he understands it, has publicly spoken out against amnesty for illegal aliens and the burgeoning North American Union.

6. He understands freedom of speech and believes that a preacher is a spokesman for God (not the State) and has publicly decried so-called "hate crimes" legislation that would prohibit preachers from preaching Biblical truth regarding homosexuality.

7. He has publicly promoted the sanctity of life by preaching and protesting against abortion.

8. He has publicly repudiated the unconstitutional policies of President Bush in his promotion of the USA Patriot Act, warrantless wiretaps and eavesdropping, and the deceptive manner in which he led America into an undeclared, unprovoked, and preemptive war against Iraq.

9. He has publicly resisted "Seeker-Friendly," and "Purpose-Driven," and "Emerging Church" church growth movements.

10. He believes the church has a responsibility to be the salt and light of the world. That is, that we are to win souls to Christ, and resist Satan in whatever form (spiritual, social, political, cultural, etc.) he reveals himself.

Will you help me find such men? Please email me with as much contact information as possible, including the name of the pastor and church, his address, phone number, and email address.

I already have a short list of under 100 men who seem to be of Black Regiment caliber. I am confident there are many hundreds more. We need to be in contact with each other. We need to pray for each other. We need to support each other. We need to inform each other. We need to encourage each other. This Black Regiment list can be a tool to help accomplish all this and more.

If you know of only one such man, please let me know who he is. He might be thinking, "I, even I only, am left." He needs to know he is not alone. We all need to know that we are not alone.

Thanks for your help. I will keep readers of this column posted as to the results of my appeal.
