Men's
fashion is having a
moment—a feminine
moment, that is. First it
was the concept of mantyhose
(pantyhose and tights for
men that took a popular
turn this spring) and now
men’s fashion is taking
yet another influence from
the ladies -- this time,
in the form of dresses.
During Australian
Fashion Week this past
week, menswear designer Injury
attempted to branch out the
world of male fashion by
debuting several man dresses
down the runway.
The printed and patterned
dresses were accessorized
with—what else—jackets and
leather cuffs (naturally).
But this surprisingly isn’t
the first time men have
sashayed down the runway in
clothing traditionally worn by
women. According to the New
York Times, during New
York’s Fashion Week this
spring, Russian menswear
designer Alexandre Plokhov
sent his male models down the
runway in long skirts and hair
extensions, while designer
Paul Marlow had his male
models accentuate their look
with eye liner for the Loden
Dager show.
